2017 Blue Grass – Post Race

The Blue Grass – Track playing fast.

McCracken was racing in 4th position between horses about 3 wide and dropped back suddenly on far turn when another rival moved up on his outside and got in front of him. McCracken eventually made up ground and launched a bid about 7-wide turning for home. Was able to get up to 3rd position midstretch but flattened out late.  McCraken was in off a 55 day break so he can be forgiven for flattening out late especially when considering that he was between horses early and had to regroup after getting shuffled back on far turn. His works might be a tipoff to how he does in Kentucky.

Practical Joke was stalking off the early lead, moved to contention on final turn but couldn’t match strides with the winner through entire stretch.

Irap was able to sit just off a soft early lead, pushed to the front by the 3/4′s mark and held sway to the wire. Not sure he can go longer especially if the pace is faster.

Tapwrit got off to a sluggish start as he seemed unprepared and raced well back early and didn’t show much fire. Not sure why he was so dull and not sure if he will fire his best going to Kentucky. Seeing how he trains and works will be key.
